hi guys! this is a comic i made for a final in my comics in literature class. we had to do a research paper on a topic we’d discussed in class and then accompany it with a comic with a relevant subject. my paper was about hyper-sexualization of women in comic books, but i decided to broaden it out here as well as personalize it and make myself the subject and discuss something i’ve been subjected to in the convention circuit and on the internet as well as thousands of other women, as well as give a cue to thought about how the comic book industry as well as the video game industry and even just media in general (all of which are male dominated) push such ridiculous pressures onto girls and women.
also, it feels kind of silly to have to add this since i hope it’s obvious, but i am very aware that there are men that don’t subscribe to this attitude, and am incredibly grateful that these issues are brought to light to people other than the ones that are subjected to it.
anyway haha i have literally been staring at this for 9 hours i don’t even know which direction is up anymore. thanks for reading!!!

051913 ♥ 141854best way to prevent rape:
don’t wear clothing that attracts attention
Doesn’t work like that. Rapists don’t pick their victims based on what they wear (usually) but by how easily they can overpower them. This is just more and more of a reason…
then why does rape occur within societies where women are more covered up, such as strict religious sects? why has rape occurred throughout history, even when women were not wearing ‘slutty’ clothes like tube tops and miniskirts? oh, i see. probably because they were showing their faces, hands, and ankles. hitler be trololololin.
“The Unpassable Girl Test”.
remember: you don’t have to live within the gender binary!

Do You Notice Anything Different About This Toy Catalog? Because Kids Do.
Toys “R” Us officially moved up a few notches in the eyes of progressives by challenging the gender stereotypes that have lined its pages for years. The Swedish version of the toy store did at least. I definitely like the idea of letting kids choose what they want to identify with instead of having it spelled out for them. I really hope this catches on.
maybe some day toy stores in the US will realize that they can sell more toys when they aren’t marketing to “just boys” or “just girls”
never saw these particular images before! i’ve seen one of a boy dressed as spiderman while pushing a shopping cart. that nerf gun girl is awesome, for real though, haha. i always liked any type of figurine type toys i could play with as a kid, human or animal. be it ninja turtles, dinosaurs, barbies, or littlest petshop, i loved acting out elaborate storylines with them. i miss those days!
one of my most prized possessions is a fully articulated samurai figurine (complete with detailed weapon accessories) of manji from the blade of the immortal manga. toys will forever hold a special place in my heart.

When I was in college I used to rant and rave about how pathetic separatists are. If they were rich white males they’d be hardcore Republicans. They are ego-centric rightwing…
My Tumblr blog is now women-only space. If you are male, male bodied, a trans woman, do not ask me questions, do not reblog my posts, etc. You can get in touch with me other ways if you are just dying to tell me why I am wrong….
god, i hate this site. sigh.
