082612 ♥ 11550081512 ♥ 3This is a US election that defies logic and brings the nation closer towards a one-party state masquerading as a two-party state.
The Democratic incumbent has surrounded himself with conservative advisors and key figures — many from previous administrations, and an unprecedented number from the Trilateral Commission. He also appointed a former Monsanto executive as Senior Advisor to the FDA. He has extended Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, presided over a spiralling rich-poor gap and sacrificed further American jobs with recent free trade deals.Trade union rights have also eroded under his watch. He has expanded Bush defence spending, droned civilians, failed to close Guantanamo, supported the NDAA which effectively legalises martial law, allowed drilling and adopted a soft-touch position towards the banks that is to the right of European Conservative leaders. Taking office during the financial meltdown, Obama appointed its principle architects to top economic positions. We list these because many of Obama’s detractors absurdly portray him as either a radical liberal or a socialist, while his apologists, equally absurdly, continue to view him as a well-intentioned progressive, tragically thwarted by overwhelming pressures. 2008’s yes-we-can chanters, dazzled by pigment rather than policy detail, forgot to ask can what? Between 1998 and the last election, Obama amassed $37.6million from the financial services industry, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. While 2008 presidential candidate Obama appeared to champion universal health care, his first choice for Secretary of Health was a man who had spent years lobbying on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry against that very concept. Hey! You don’t promise a successful pub, and then appoint the Salvation Army to run it. This time around, the honey-tongued President makes populist references to economic justice, while simultaneously appointing as his new Chief of Staff a former Citigroup executive concerned with hedge funds that bet on the housing market to collapse. Obama poses something of a challenge to The Political Compass, because he’s a man of so few fixed principles.
As outrageous as it may appear, civil libertarians and human rights supporters would have actually fared better under a Republican administration. Had a Bush or McCain presidency permitted extrajudicial executions virtually anywhere in the world ( www.amnesty.org/en/library/info/AMR51/047/2012/en ), expanded drone strikes and introduced the NDAA, the Democratic Party would have howled from the rooftops. Senator Obama the Constitutional lawyer would have been one of the most vocal objectors. Under a Democratic administration however, these far-reaching developments have received scant opposition and a disgraceful absence of mainstream media coverage.
Australian model caught distracted during a photo shoot when the first plane hit tower 1. What an epic photo.
It’s so weird to think that normal things were happening on 9/11. People were walking their dogs, riding their bikes, models were doing photoshoots… and the planes hit.
One of my favorite pictures on Tumblr.

031112 ♥ 155298This is a homeless guy who lives on a bridge in Dublin City. Last week his rabbit was grabbed from him and thrown into the river below.. the River Liffey. Which is one of the most horrible rivers in Ireland. The currents are really strong and it’s filthy.. Anyway, as soon as the rabbit hit the water this guy was already hurdling off the bridge and towards the freezing river to save her. After hitting the water and successfully locating her, he proceeding to pump air back into her, making her regain consciousness and basically come back to life. I was talking to him today along with another woman and she asked “Why in the name of God did you jump into the water? Did you not think about it?!” and straight away he replied with “No. I didn’t stop to think. I just jumped. It was an instinct.. I needed to save her.”
I wanted to cry reading this…who would do that to a living creature? This man is wonderful. His animal friends are so lucky to have him.

Tired of mean people.
I was in the drive thru at Walgreens, dropping off prescriptions for my dad, like I do almost every single week so that I can then pick them up and organize his pills for the following week. He’s a transplant patient and has memory issues, so I help him out. The people in the car next to me saw me pull up, then stared, mouths open for a while before going on to talk about me, smirk, and point.
What gives you the right to do that?
Will someone remind me why I’m being judged? Because I look different? Who the fuck cares? I’m just trying to be happy. I’m a good person. I’m a nice person. I just want to yell. I’m nice! I’m a good person! I’m educated, I work hard, I have a good relationship with my family and friends! I’m not crazy or a drunk or a junkie.. I’ve never been in a physical fight. I live with a bunch of animals, most of whom I’ve rescued. I feed stray cats. I hold doors open for people. What am I doing wrong? Why does it matter what I look like? Who cares? Why is that always something I have to fucking consider? Why do the people in my neighborhood stay away from me? Why do parents steer their children in the opposite direction? I don’t want to change the way I look, but I also can’t change the way people think and it’s driving me crazy.
I’m so tired of mean people. Just be nice to me.
;_;
Get out of my head. I couldn’t have said it any better.
It’s….disheartening.
:( this is so depressing. why are people so fucking judgmental of others’ appearances? i’ve gotten shit for my piercings and when i had colorful hair. i hate when my own family makes judgmental statements. it’s such bullshit.
